Mitrea Sets New Singles Record as DePaul Defeats Illinois

It was a big night for Rebeca Mitrea of the No. 49 DePaul women's tennis team. Not only did the Arad, Romania native help the Blue Demons (3-5) to a hard fought 4-3 victory over No. 52 Illinois (4-4) Friday night, but the senior became the new leader in program history for singles win.

Softball Adds Lynsey Ciezki as an Assistant Coach

A familiar face is making her way back to the DePaul softball program. Softball head coach Eugene Lenti announced the hiring of former player, Lynsey Ciezki as an assistant coach on Monday.

"We are super excited to have Lynsey back in the program with us, this time at the coaching level," said Lenti. "As a player, her versatility and hard work were some of her greatest assets for us. I know she will bring those same attributes as a coach."

Men's Tennis Traded Tennis Rackets for Basketballs to Give Back

The DePaul men's tennis team recently took some time out of its busy schedule to volunteer with Special Olympics Chicago.

Just a block down at the Ray Meyer Center, the squad traded in its tennis rackets for basketballs to help facilitate a day of team and individual skills competitions for Special Olympic participants.

Five MU Student-Athletes Earn NSCA All-American Status

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has awarded five Marquette University athletes with its annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award, which recognizes student-athletes' dedication to strength and conditioning.

Senior Cheldon Brown of track and field, senior Carol Henney of women's volleyball, junior Emily Jacobson of women's soccer, redshirt senior Chris Otule of men's basketball and junior Carlye Shuh of track and field were among the athletes honored with this award.

Burchett and Julian Sign with Marquette Volleyball

Marquette University head women's volleyball coach Ryan Theis announced the addition of two Midwest natives to the program in defensive specialists Riley Burchett and Abby Julian.

The pair will have four years of eligibility remaining once they arrive on campus during the summer of 2015.
